The show got off to a bad start because we soon heard that Terry Bull wasn’t there. That sucked, because I was looking forward to seeing Terry again, but that probably isn’t CCW’s fault because I think he missed his flight. The show started WAAY late and the intermissions were waaay long. One of them was 25+ minutes long. That was my main complaints. That has always been a plague of CCW and is something that they need to work on. Other than that the show was pretty good, and there were a few really good matches. If some of this is critical, at least it’s honest. I state the good and the bad. Here are my Results/Thoughts:
Master Rich vs. Pink Pansy
-This was old, old school CCW, which wasn’t a good thing. The only time I’ve ever seen Master Rich look decent is when Hero was there to carry him. Although, it was cool for him to be there since it was the Commish’ Memorial Show. Rich wins with the mallot.
Lightweight Gauntlet for the Title
-Besides the Hardcore main event, this was definitely the Match of the Night. CCW has some awesome Lightweights and they definitely showed it in the match. Most of Ricochet’s high spots are unreal. That man can fly. Chuck Taylor was REALLY impressive. He did some cool highflying stuff and some awesome wrestling. That Combo that he did that ended with the Crippler Crossface like submission was awesome. He also did a nice enziguri after throwing Ricochet to the ropes. Dan O Mannly (Rudy’s cousin) is a great heel. He looks even more like Rudy with his wig off. They must be twin cousins or something. My only problem with this match was that the worst man won (Shane Matthews). That’s ok though.
Viper vs. J. Grunge in the Dog Collar Chain Match (Last Man Standing)
-This match was good for what it was. It went a little long though. J Grunge rules. The ending was a cool idea with Viper using the chain to hold J down in the corner for the 10 Count.
Chris Michaels vs. Rex Sexton
-It sucks bad that Tracy couldn’t be there. That was really disappointing. By the way, who’s music was that that played when Micheals turned? I’m not big on either of these two and I didn’t like this match at all. The best thing about the match was that it was kept short. I don’t see what everyone sees in Sexton. That’s just me though. He was at his best when Big Bully Douglas was destroying him back in the day.
BBB/Commish Memorial Cup Battle
-This match was a good way to use all of the people who weren’t in other matches, since there were so many wrestlers there. The Trophy with the winner’s name on it each year and the Cup was a cool idea, although I don’t think John should’ve been the winner, considering his bad history with Da Commish. I was expecting Jason Cain or Lonestar to win. Regardless, the ending was pretty cool. John did kinda earn it and has some balls jumping off of the side of the wall like that. The spot was cool, but John was a little bit reckless and almost killed Lonestar.
Fan Battle Royal
-It’s pretty bad that all the big dudes couldn’t get the little guy out. Pondo even sat at ringside to check this one out. It was funny at some points. I was for the little dude all the way. Since it was going way long, I’m glad they ended it because I don’t think either of the final two were going to get the other one out anytime soon.
Mad Man Pondo & Necro Butcher vs. Convict, Skyfire, & Bonz
-I had heard rumors ahead of time that JC probably wouldn’t be there. Earlier I had seen John wearing a Pondo shirt and got worried that he would be the replacement. I was really hoping that Necro was there. That was good stuff having Skyfire, Bonz, and Convict come out faking us out like that. I was pissed at that point, because I thought that was going to be the match. Then Necro’s music hit and the crowd, including myself, marked out like crazy. That was freakin awesome. Necro & Pondo totally killed everyone. Christian Skyfire and Bonz showed how Hardcore they aren’t. Necro hit Bonz in the face with a cone, which was brutal and then Bonz slid under the ring and Necro later pulled him out. I have never been big on Convict, but I have to say that he impressed me last night. He took an insane beating, while the other two ran. I have never really heard Necro talk much, but he was on the mic quite a bit and was really funny. When looking for other people to destroy, he said, “Where’s Mitch Ryder?” to which we marked out because we have been asking that for 2 years. Shane the Security Guard then made his way down to the ring and everyone tried to talk him out of it. Necro drilled him with a chair and THE CHAIR BROKE! Amazing. Necro also powerslammed Convict using an open folding chair. Ouch.
Although, I sometimes like JC, I will take Necro over JC any day.
Overall, the show was pretty good with some awesome parts like I said earlier. There were some no shows, but that comes with it I guess. At least CCW delivered on the surprise. The Lightweights were awesome and Necro is worth the $10 alone.
The late start to the show and the LOOONG Intermissions need to be worked on. That makes the show last waaay longer, which isn’t good since some of the people have to work (like Ike) or go to college (like me) or school early the next morning.
I hope that Necro and Pondo are brought back to CCW as much as possible. Same goes for Chuck Taylor, Ricochet, Sean Roberts, and Ty Blade.
